CCleaner Browser comes packed with built-in security and privacy features to keep you safe online. Everything is managed from its Security & Privacy Center, which includes a collection of tools and features that enable you to manage your online privacy, identity, and personal data. To access the Security & Privacy Center and configure CCleaner Browser, click the CCleaner Browser icon in the top-right corner of the CCleaner Browser screen.

The Security & Privacy Center includes the following tools:

In the software's Extensions menu:

Here's what each tool does:

Security Check

Security Check allows you to see the number of malicious downloads, phishing attempts, and malicious sites blocked since you started using Avast Secure Browser. Click Review to check if there are any security issues that require your attention.

CCleaner

CCleaner cleans system junk and browsing data to help protect your privacy, speed up your PC and keep it working better, for longer. (NOTE: The CCleaner tile will only display in CCleaner Browser's Security & Privacy Center if CCleaner is installed and detected).

Anti-Fingerprinting

Websites and ad networks can use your unique browser configuration (referred to as your 'browser fingerprint'), to track you. Your browser fingerprint is comprised of data related to your device configuration, browser, and history of your online behavior, which is continuously stored while you interact with webpages. Anti-Fingerprinting helps disguise your digital fingerprint to prevent websites from identifying and tracking you without your consent.

NOTE: The Anti-Fingerprinting feature can hide information that certain websites need to operate properly. If you encounter problems with a website you normally visit, you can temporarily disable the feature. Go to the Security & Privacy Center and click the slider on the Anti-Fingerprinting tile so that it changes from blue to gray.

Adblock

Adblock helps stop advertisements from loading on the webpages you visit, which improves the speed and safety of your browsing sessions. Adblock is enabled by default.

To disable this feature, go to the Security & Privacy Center and click the slider on the Adblock tile so that it changes from blue to gray.

Web Shield

Anti-Phishing blocks malicious websites and phishing attempts while you browse the web. It also prevents you from downloading potentially malicious content from the web, which may try to infect your PC. Anti-Phishing is enabled by default.

NOTE: This feature cannot detect and stop all possible malicious websites from being accessed; please still utilize proper vigilance and check if links make sense for the website they’re claiming to represent before clicking on them. You can find more information on how to recognize phishing attempts here: https://blog.avast.com/plenty-of-phishing
If you would like to report a false positive, you can do so here: https://www.avast.com/false-positive-file-form.php?url=[URL]

To disable this feature, go to the Security & Privacy Center and click the slider on the Anti-Phishing tile so that it changes from blue to gray.

Anti-Tracking

The Anti-Tracking feature protects your privacy by preventing websites, analytics companies, advertising networks, and other web services from tracking your online activity. It also uses filters to completely remove web bugs, tracking scripts, and other information collectors from the sites you visit. Anti-Tracking is enabled by default.

To disable this feature, go to the Security & Privacy Center and click the slider on the Anti-Tracking tile so that it changes from blue to grey.

Stealth Mode

Stealth Mode is a privacy feature that prevents your browsing history from being stored on your device and deletes any tracking cookies or web caches you acquire during your Stealth Mode browsing session.

To open a web page in Stealth Mode, go to the Security & Privacy Center and click Launch Window on the Stealth Mode tile.

Password Manager

The Password Manager feature in CCleaner Browser allows you to securely store your passwords in one location.

To select a password manager, go to the Security & Privacy Center, click the Password Managers tile, then use the drop-down menu to select which password manager you want to use.

Extension Guard

Extension Guard prevents untrusted extensions (also known as add-ons and plug-ins) from being installed in CCleaner Browser. This feature is enabled by default.

To disable Extension Guard, go to the Security & Privacy Center and click the slider on the Extension Guard tile so that it changes from blue to gray.

Privacy Cleaner

Privacy Cleaner allows you to clean your CCleaner Browser. It clears your browsing history, cached images, cookies and more. This protects your privacy and frees up space on your PC.

To use Privacy Cleaner, go to the Security & Privacy Center and click Launch Cleaner on the Privacy Cleaner tile.

NOTE: You can also clean CCleaner Browser’s browsing data in CCleaner!

Webcam Guard

Webcam Guard gives you more control over which websites can access your webcam. Each time a website you visit tries to access your webcam, a notification appears asking you to Allow or Keep blocking the website.

To temporarily disable Webcam Guard, go to the Security & Privacy Center, then click the slider on the Webcam Guard tile so that it changes from blue to gray.

HTTPS Encryption

HTTPS (Hypertext Transfer Protocol Secure) is a more secure version of the standard HTTP connection. HTTPS adds encryption which prevents others from eavesdropping, and helps ensure that you are connected to the intended server. The HTTPS Encryption feature in CCleaner Browser ensures that each website you visit uses an HTTPS connection where supported. HTTPS Encryption is enabled by default.

To disable this feature, go to the Tools > Extensions section of the program and click the slider on the HTTPS Encryption tile so that it changes from blue to gray.

How can I use separate user profiles?

CCleaner Browser allows you to create user profiles for friends, family, work, or personal use with separate bookmarks, extensions, browsing histories, and more.

To set up profiles:

  1. Open CCleaner Browser and click the Account icon in the top-right corner of the browser.
  2. Click Add New profile, then select your preferred option:
    • Sign in: Enter your CCleaner Account credentials and click Continue, then click Profile name and picture to edit your existing profile's name, theme, or avatar.
    • Continue without an account: Select this option to create a profile without connecting a CCleaner Account.
  3. Enter a name or label and optionally select a theme.
  4. Click Done.
The next time you open the Browser, on the Who's using CCleaner Browser screen,

Note: To manage your profiles, open the Browser and click the Account icon in the top-right corner of the browser, then click Manage profiles (the gear icon). For the relevant profile, click ⋮ More actions (three dots), then select Edit or Delete.

CCleaner Browser blocks ads, hides your digital identity, and speeds up websites.
